Sub Rosa - Principal Photography begins.

Sound...Camera...Slate...Action!

This past weekend, principal photography finally began with three major scenes of the film as well a few flashbacks. Day one consisted of a scene with officer Price investigating Jeremy's laptop after his death, as well as a few flashbacks of happy moments between Claire and Jeremy. Day two consisted of Jeremy's funeral, and the dinner scene with Matt and Claire. Overall, the crew went above and beyond meeting our expectations. Everybody was on time and ready to go when needed. Production designers did a fabulous job dressing up our sets, sound department captured every single moment of happiness and fear, so did the camera department.  This weekend was almost too perfect for us not to run into a big issue towards to end of our shoot on Sunday evening, as our sound device froze and prevented us from covering anymore dialogue. Thankfully, the dinner's owners were very welcoming and more than happy to invite us back on location to shoot the two missing shots we have left.

On a personal level and as Director of Photography, my goal this week is to build the remaining of my shot lists for the 6 remaining days of production. Friday, we will be heading to Pomme de Terre lake for 4 days and film the majority of our film. We will then head back to Springfield on Tuesday to shoot the final scene of the film, taking place at a gas station. On March 16th, we will wrap up production by filming the dock party scene down at the floating cafe in Branson.
I would like to complement the amazing work the camera team has been doing. As the DP of this production, I couldn't be more proud of Aj (cam op), Drew (1st AC), and Noah (2nd AC) for their dedication and finesse on set.

On the producers side of things, Marlena and I had a brief meeting with our 1st AD and our marketing supervisor about budget in order to make sure that we are staying on track with our spending. Overall, Sub Rosa made $1900 on their IndieGogo, and 20% of this will be donated to Stand Against Trafficking. Adding all the donations outside from our IndieGogo campaign, producers have raised over $4500 for the film.

This Tuesday, we will have another production meeting with the entire crew to make sure everyone is ready for the rest of the shoot and also coordinate travel to the cabins. This week, Director and producers will also meet with editors to start looking at dailies, as well as with sound designers to discuss score ideas and tone.
